Points:

Due By:

April 1, 2026 at 4:45:00 AM

You will work along with the video tutorial to familiarize yourself with some of the most common transitions. In most cases, the best transition is no transition. However, tasteful use of transitions can aid the storytelling process

The 8 Transitions you will practice include the following:

  • 01 - Cross Dissolves

  • 02 - Dips and FadesĀ

  • 03 - Slides / Pushes / Wipes

  • 04 - Cross Zooms

  • 05 - Morph Cuts With Text-Based Editing

  • 06 - Film Dissolves

  • 07 - Flashes / Additive Dissolves

  • 08 - Shape Transitions / Staggered Transitions

Be sure to export each sequence and put it in your Exports folder.

Note: At about the 3 minute mark, for PC users, it'll be in Edit -> Preferences -> Timeline

Changes from PremierePro 2025 to PremierePro 2026

The video was created using PremierePro 2025. Most things are the same, but there are a few small differences, or some effects may be been relegated to the Legacy list.

For example, in the 03 -Slide / Push / Wipe sequence, the Slide transition is in the Legacy list. If you do a search for Slide in the Effects panel search bar, it will show you where it is located.

Video editing software interface showing effects and transitions. Search bar highlights "Slide." Sections include presets, audio, and video.

Also, some of the controls or settings might now be in a Controls submenu. For example, the controls for the Push transition are under the Controls submenu.
